Research
Emanuela joined the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing in 2010. Her current research projects include Intergenerational relationships in Italian transnational families, funded by the Leverhulme Trust, and the Collen Programme, exploring reproductive health, education and women's empowerment in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Previous to her Oxford position, Emanuela was awarded a EU Marie Curie Fellowship at the University of Surrey, Centre for Research on Ageing and Gender, and consulted for Italian NGOs in the fields of social exclusion and gender inequalities.
Her main research interests include intergenerational and gender relationships, transnational family networks, informal care.

Recent professional committments
Emanuela curates the online communication and research outreach for the Oxford Institute of Ageing and the Collen Programme.
She provides mentoring to students and international academic visitors and contributes to the Institute's capacity building activities.

Emanuela’s external research memberships include the Oxford Martin School, Wolfson College Oxford, the European Sociological Association Research Networks ‘Sociology of Families and Intimate Lives’ and ‘Ageing in Europe’.
